Disassembly
1. Remove the rack from the car («Front suspension strut - removal and installation»).
2. Remove the support plate from the rack and clamp the rack in a vise.
Attention! Be careful! A compressed spring has great strength and, if the tie is broken, straightening out, it can cause injury.
3. We install the tie springs on opposite sides and evenly, without distortions, we tighten the spring until the load is removed from the upper support.
4. Holding the shock absorber rod from turning with a 6 mm hex wrench, unscrew its nut with a 22 mm wrench.
5. Remove the restrictive washer of the upper support of the rebound stroke from the rack rod.
6. Remove the top support from the rod.
7. Remove the bearing from the rack.
8. Remove the top spring cup from the rack.
9. Remove the rubber gasket from the upper coil of the spring.
10. Remove the spring from the rack (without loosening the ties).
11. Remove the washer from the rod.
12. Remove the compression stroke buffer together with the protective cover of the shock absorber rod.
13. To replace the spring, loosen the spring ties.
Assembly
We assemble the front suspension strut in reverse order.
Recommendation. Before assembling the rack, fully extending and sinking the rod by hand, make sure that the shock absorber is in good condition. If dips, jerks or extraneous sounds are heard when moving the rod, replace the shock absorber. Check the integrity and serviceability of all elements installed on the rack. Replace a damaged or cracked shock rod guard, a damaged compression stroke stop, a cracked or weakened suspension spring. Front suspension springs are divided into classes according to stiffness. The class of the spring is indicated by paint on the outside of one of its coils. The front suspension must be fitted with springs of the same class.
