Removing
1. Disconnect the intermediate shaft of the steering column from the steering gear (see 127, «Steering column - removal and installation»).
Warning! On vehicles with an airbag in the steering column, secure the steering shaft against rotation to prevent damage to the slip ring.
2. Disconnect the tie rods from the steering gear («Tie rod - removal and installation»).
3. Using a 13 mm socket wrench with a ratchet, unscrew the two nuts of the bracket for the right mounting of the steering mechanism and remove the bracket.
4. Similarly, remove the bracket of the left mounting of the steering mechanism.
5. Cutting the clamp with side cutters...
... remove the protective cap from the steering mechanism.
6. Remove the right support.
7. With side cutters, we bite two plastic clamps for fastening the protective cover of the steering mechanism on the right 1 and left 2 sides of the steering mechanism.
8. Remove the protective cover from the crankcase of the steering gear.
Installation
1. We put lubricant FIOL-1 into the inner cavity of the crankcase of the steering mechanism.
2. We put on a protective cover on the steering gear housing. We fix it with new clamps.
3. We put on the steering mechanism the right support and a protective cap. We fix the cap of the steering mechanism with a new clamp.
4. Fasten to the steering mechanism with brackets. We tighten the nuts of the brackets with a torque of 15-18.6 N·m (1.5-1.9 kgf·m)
5. Fasten to the steering linkage («Tie rod - removal and installation»).
6. We fix the intermediate shaft of the steering column to the steering shaft («Steering column - removal and installation»).
