I - neutral position. Windshield wipers and washers are off.
II - intermittent operation of the windshield wiper is on. Unfixed position.
III - Intermittent operation of the windshield wiper is on. Fixed position.
IV - the low speed of the windshield wiper is on. Fixed position.
V - the high speed of the windshield wiper is on. Fixed position.
VI - on yourself, the windshield washer is on. Unfixed position.
VII* - push, rear window wiper on (in a variant). Fixed position.
VIII* - push, wiper and rear window washer on (in a variant). Unfixed position.
In intermittent operation, the wiper moves the brushes once every few seconds at a constant interval, regardless of the presence of drops on the windshield.
In a variant version, an automatic windshield wiper control system is installed on cars (cleaning system), which allows you to turn the cleaner on and off automatically depending on the presence of raindrops on the windshield of the car.
The cleaning system only works when the ignition is on.
Rain sensor sensitivity switch 1 is required to enable the cleaning system (see fig. 35), located behind the rear-view mirror in the sensor overlay, move from position 0 to any other position from 1 to 4* **, and move the wiper switch lever to position III (intermittent operation). In this case, the wiper blades make one stroke, after which they will turn on or off depending on the number of raindrops falling on the windshield.
If the cleaning system has already been switched on, then when the ignition is switched on, the brushes also make one stroke and the cleaning system is switched on.
If a malfunction is detected, the cleaning system automatically switches to the mode «manual» wiper control.
To turn off the automatic cleaning system and enter the mode «manual» wiper control, you need to switch the sensitivity of the rain sensor to position 0 (extreme left position). This mode provides manual control of setting the windshield wiper lever to the appropriate position.
When the ignition is turned off, the wiper operation stops, the brushes may not stop in the park position. To move the wipers to the park position, you must turn on the ignition and move the wiper switch lever to position I.
If the wiper lever is not in position I and the ignition is turned off for more than 1 minute, the wiper will not operate after the ignition is switched on until the lever is changed or the washer is switched on.
To eliminate streaks, road salt deposits or pavement elements, periodically clean the brushes and windows with fluid from the washer reservoir. Presence of grease, wax, insects, etc. on the windshield can cause the wipers to work unevenly and cause dirty marks on the glass. If the streaks are not removed after applying the washer fluid, clean the outside of the glass and brushes with a soft cloth using special detergents. After cleaning, rinse the glass and brushes with water.
In order to avoid failure of the windshield wipers, before turning them on in the winter season after a long stop in heavy rainfall, it is necessary to clean the windows from snow.
* For vehicles with a body «hatchback», on a car with a body «sedan» not used.
** Rain sensor sensitivity adjustable in 4 steps. Highest sensitivity when the switch is turned clockwise to the far right 4.
Attention!
- 1. To avoid damage, do not operate the windshield wiper with the hood open.
- 2. Do not turn on the wiper if the windshield is dry. Doing so may scratch the glass or damage the brushes. Always use a windshield washer before operating the wipers when the windshield is dry.
- 3. If the brushes are frozen to the glass, then before turning on the wiper, you must first turn on the heating of the windshield (see section «Heating and ventilation»). An attempt to turn on the wipers with the brushes frozen to the glass can lead to both damage to the rubber band of the brushes and premature wear of the wiper drive.
- 4. Do not clean the brushes with gasoline or thinner, as this will damage the brushes.
