Removing
1. We prepare the car for work («Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the engine mudguard («Checking the technical condition of the engine»).
3. We process all threaded connections with penetrating lubricant.
4. Using a 17 mm socket wrench, unscrew the nut of the lower fastening of the inlet pipe rod.
5. Disconnect the catalytic manifold from the exhaust pipe of the additional muffler (see «Additional muffler - removal»).
6. Remove the receiver («Inlet manifold receiver - removal, replacement of seals and installation»).
7. Disconnect the fuel rail wiring harness block and disconnect the fuel line from the rail fitting («Fuel rail - removal, disassembly, assembly and installation»).
Comment. For convenience, it is desirable to remove the fuel rail.
8. Using a 17 mm spanner, unscrew the nut 1 of the upper fastening of the intake manifold rod and remove the rod. Using a 13 mm socket wrench, we loosen the tightening of the nut 2 of the lower mounting of the bracket, and unscrew the nut 3 of the upper mounting of the bracket.
9. Move the bracket to the side (turning it on a hairpin, like on an axis). Then, using the same wrench, unscrew the two nuts 4 of the left fastening of the catalytic manifold and remove the protective screen of the cooling system hose.
10. With a 13 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two nuts and remove the protective screen of the sensor and the mounting lug (eye).
11. Using a 13 mm socket wrench with an extension, unscrew four more nuts 1 of the upper fastening and two nuts 2 of the lower fastening of the inlet pipeline.
12. Remove the inlet pipeline.
13. Disconnect the wiring harness pads from the oxygen concentration sensors or remove the oxygen sensors («Oxygen concentration sensor - check, removal and installation»).
14. Using a 13 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two bolts securing the catalytic manifold to the bracket.
15. Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the nuts of the left and right fastenings of the catalytic manifold.
16. Remove the catalytic manifold.
17. Remove the gasket from the studs.
Comment. On a car that has been in operation for a long time, as a rule, it is not possible to unscrew it without breaking off the heads of the bolts securing the catalytic manifold to the bracket. Also, the bracket itself is damaged by corrosion. In these cases, defective parts must be replaced together with the manifold.
18. With a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the nut 1 for fastening the protective screen and with a 13 mm wrench, two bolts 2 for fastening the upper part of the bracket. Remove part of the bracket.
19. If, due to corrosion, it is not possible to unscrew the bolts, with a 10 mm spanner, unscrew the two bolts 1 securing the protective screen to the gearbox and with a 13 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two bolts 2 securing the catalytic manifold bracket to the cylinder block. We remove the bracket assembly with a protective screen.
Installation
Install the catalytic manifold in reverse order. We replace the gasket and parts damaged by corrosion.
