To remove and install the oil pump on a car, you will need: all the tools necessary to remove the timing belt and the engine oil sump, as well as a wrench «on 10».
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Drain the oil from the engine oil sump (see «Changing engine oil and oil filter»).
3. Remove the camshaft drive belt (see «Timing belt replacement (camshaft drive) and tension roller»).
4. Disconnect the harness connector from the crankshaft position sensor.
5. Using two screwdrivers, remove the pulley from the crankshaft.
6. If the key does not fit tightly in the crankshaft groove, remove it so as not to lose it.
7. Remove the engine oil sump (see «Replacing the oil pan gasket»).
8. Turn out three bolts of fastening of an oil receiver (flat washers under the bolts) and remove the oil pan.
9. Clean off dirt and wash the oil receiver mesh with white spirit. If the oil receiver screen cannot be cleaned or is damaged, replace the oil receiver.
10. Replace the torn or loose sealing ring of the oil receiver.
11. Turn out six bolts of fastening of the oil pump to the block of cylinders, move the oil pump a screw-driver, having inserted it between the pump and a cover of the main bearing, and remove the oil pump with a lining. Please note that flat washers are installed under the bolts.
12. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and oil pump housing from the remnants of the old gasket.
13. Before installing, fill the oil pump cavity with grease to ensure that oil is sucked from the oil sump when the engine is first started.
14. Rotate the oil pump drive gear to fit correctly on the crankshaft: the lugs on the drive gear should line up...
15.... with flats on the crankshaft.
16. Grease a working edge of an epiploon with engine oil. When installing the oil pump, carefully fill the seal lip onto the crankshaft journal with a wooden stick. After that, tighten the oil pump mounting bolts.
17. Reinstall all removed parts on the vehicle in reverse order.
18. Adjust timing belt tension (see «Timing Belt Tension Adjustment (camshaft drive)»).
19. Adjust the tension of the alternator drive belt (see «Checking the tension of the alternator drive belt and replacing it»).
20. Fill engine oil (see «Changing engine oil and oil filter»).
