To improve the appearance of the engine compartment and reduce the noise level, a decorative plastic casing is installed on the car engine. For most engine repairs and maintenance, this cover must be removed.
The decorative engine cover is fixed with four rubber clamps, put on studs screwed into the cylinder head and into the intake module.
1. Remove the oil filler cap.
2. Pull the shroud up on the edges and remove it by releasing the retainers from the studs.
3. Inspect the latches on the back of the casing.
4. Replace the torn retainer by wringing it out with a pointed tool (e.g. with a screwdriver) latch leg edge (shown by arrow) and push the retainer into the hole in the trim cover. To facilitate installation of the retainer, lubricate it with engine oil.
5. Install the decorative casing on the car engine in the reverse order of removal, putting the clamps on the studs and pressing the casing at the location of the clamps until it stops.
