The sensing element of the knock sensor is a piezoelectric plate. When detonation occurs, voltage pulses are generated at the output of the sensor, which increase with increasing intensity of detonation impacts. The controller on a signal of the knock sensor regulates an advancing of ignition for elimination of detonation flashes of fuel.
To replace the knock sensor on a car, you will need a key «at 13».
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Press down on the metal harness connector retainer and disconnect the connector from the knock sensor.
3. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the gauge of a detonation and remove the gauge.
4. Install the knock sensor on the car in the reverse order, tightening its mounting bolt to a torque of 10.4-24.2 Nm.
