On the car, the diagnostic oxygen concentration sensor is installed in the catalyst behind the converter, it works on the same principle as the control oxygen concentration sensor, and is completely interchangeable with it. The signal generated by the diagnostic oxygen concentration sensor indicates the presence of oxygen in the exhaust gases after the converter. If the converter is operating normally, the diagnostic oxygen sensor reading will differ significantly from the control oxygen sensor reading.
To replace the diagnostic oxygen sensor on a vehicle, you will need a key «at 22».
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Disconnect the oxygen concentration sensor harness connector from the vehicle wiring harness.
3. Disconnect the oxygen sensor harness retainer from the thermal shield.
4. Unscrew the three nuts securing the additional muffler to the catalyst and remove the thermal screen of the muffler exhaust pipe (see «Replacing the additional muffler»).
5. Turn out the diagnostic gauge of concentration of oxygen and remove it from the car.
6. Install the diagnostic oxygen concentration sensor on the vehicle in the reverse order of removal.
