1. Remove the gearbox (see «Removal and installation of a transmission»).
2. If you install the old clutch pressure plate, mark in any way (for example, punching) the relative position of the clutch basket and the flywheel to set the clutch pressure plate in the same position as before removal (to maintain balance).
3. While holding the flywheel with a screwdriver from turning, remove the six bolts securing the clutch pressure plate basket to the flywheel. Loosen the bolts evenly: one turn of the wrench each, moving from bolt to bolt in diameter.
4. Remove the pressure and clutch discs from the flywheel while holding the clutch disc. 5. Cracks on the parts of the clutch disc are not allowed. Check friction lining wear. If the rivet heads are less than 0.2 mm deep, the surface of the friction linings is oily, or the rivet joints are loose, the clutch disc must be replaced. Check the reliability of fixation of the damper springs in the sockets of the hub of the clutch disc; if the springs are broken, the clutch disc must be replaced.
6. Check up beating of a conducted disk of coupling if during visual survey its warping is found out. If the runout of the clutch disc exceeds 0.5 mm, replace the clutch disc.
7. Inspect the friction surfaces of the flywheel and the clutch pressure plate, paying attention to the absence of deep scratches, scuffs, nicks, obvious signs of wear and overheating. Replace defective parts.
8. Before installing the clutch on the car, check the ease of movement of the driven clutch disc along the splines of the input shaft of the gearbox. If necessary, remove the causes of seizing or replace defective parts.
9. Pay attention to the fact that when installing the clutch disc in the clutch basket, the more protruding part of the hub must be directed towards the pressure spring.
10. When installing the clutch, first install the clutch disc with a mandrel...
11.... then on the three centering pins of the clutch basket and screw the bolts securing the clutch basket to the flywheel. Wrap the bolts evenly: one turn of the wrench each, moving from bolt to bolt in diameter. The tightening torque of the bolts is specified in Annex 1.
12. Remove the mandrel and install the gearbox.
13. Install the lower end of the clutch cable to the gearbox and restore the original adjustment of the clutch cable (see «Replacing the clutch release cable»).
