The reverse gear lock solenoid on the car is an element of the electrical system, but since it is functionally related to the gearbox control drive, its replacement is described in this subsection. If the solenoid fails, it becomes impossible to engage reverse gear. The design of the solenoid is non-separable, so it must be replaced as an assembly. Before replacing the solenoid, make sure that the switch installed on the gear lever, the F21 fuse located in the fuse and relay mounting block, and the connecting wires are in good condition.
To replace the reverse gear lock solenoid on a vehicle, you will need a key «at 36».
1. After pressing the latch, disconnect the wiring harness block from the solenoid.
2. Loosen the solenoid...
3.... and unscrew the solenoid from the gearbox housing.
4. To test the solenoid, apply power to the terminals of the solenoid connector block (e.g., additional wires from the battery, the polarity of the wires connection is indifferent). The tip of the solenoid core should then move inside the housing. If it doesn't, replace the solenoid.
5. Install the solenoid on the Lada Kalina car in the reverse order of removal. Apply an anaerobic threadlocker to the threaded part of the solenoid housing before installing.
