The brake pads of the rear brake mechanisms are changed only as a set, that is, necessarily on both wheels.
To do the job, you will need pliers with thin curved jaws.
Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. With two mounting blades, we reduce the pads as much as possible (see «Brake drum - removal and installation»).
3. Using a slotted screwdriver, we remove the end of the upper coupling spring from the hole in the brake shoe installed in front.
4. Disconnect the clamping spring from the block.
5. We lower the block and remove it together with the lower coupling spring.
6. Remove the upper coupling spring.
7. Remove the spacer bar.
8. Disconnect the clamping spring from the other shoe.
9. Remove the block, removing the hook of the spacer lever from engagement with the tip of the parking brake cable.
10. Use pliers to unpin the axial pin of the lever. Remove the washer, spacer lever and axle pin from the block.
11. We clean the parts of the brake mechanism from dirt and corrosion.
12. We make sure that there are no brake fluid leaks from the working cylinder (replace leaky cylinder).
Installation
We install the parts removed during disassembly in reverse order. We tighten the upper coupling spring with pliers or a slotted screwdriver.
Similarly, we replace the pads of the rear right brake mechanism.
Warning! To self-adjust the gap between the brake pads and drums, after complete assembly of the brake mechanism, press the brake pedal several times.
