Comment. In the absence of special bolts, you can fix the new lock with M6 threaded bolts 20 mm long, although the anti-theft security of the car will be significantly reduced.
Removing
1. Disconnect the switch harness pads (castle) ignition (see «Switch (lock) ignition - check»).
2. Having rested the chisel blade on the edge of the head of one of the bolts, with light blows of the hammer on the chisel, loosen the bolt tightening. Similarly, loosen the three remaining bolts of the switch.
Comment. The chisel should not cut through the head of the bolt, it should turn the bolt counterclockwise to loosen it.
3. Using pliers with narrow jaws, we unscrew the bolts. When unscrewing the last bolt, hold the ignition switch. Remove the lock bracket and the ignition lock itself from the steering column.
Installation
1. Before installing the ignition switch, insert the key into it and turn it to position I («included»), so that the latch of the steering lock mechanism is pushed into the lock body.
2. We install the ignition switch with the mounting bracket on the steering column and hand-tighten the new mounting bolts.
3. Having removed the key from the ignition lock, we check the operation of the steering shaft lock mechanism. If the steering shaft does not lock after a full turn of the steering wheel, the position of the ignition switch on the steering column must be adjusted so that the latch of the lock can fit into the groove on the steering shaft.
4. After making sure that the locking mechanism works, use a 10 mm ring wrench evenly (crosswise, half a turn) tighten the bolts until their heads come off.
5. We connect the block wires of the switch (castle) ignition and install the steering column lining (see «Steering column trim - removal and installation»).
