Recommendation. If, when the engine is running, a strong rotating bearing noise is heard in the area of \u200b\u200bthe upper front cover of the timing belt (see «Checking the technical condition of the engine») when checking the belt, the condition of the tension and guide rollers should also be checked (see «Timing belt tensioner and guide rollers - check and replace») and coolant pump (see «Coolant pump - replacement»).
Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the engine trim (see «Decorative overlay of the engine - removal and installation»).
3. Disconnect the wire ends from the windshield washer pumps, remove the windshield washer reservoir and, without disconnecting the tubes from it, set it aside (see «Windshield washer reservoir - removal and installation»).
4. With a 5 mm hex wrench, unscrew the five bolts securing the front upper cover of the timing belt.
5. Remove the cover from the engine.
6. Rotating the crankshaft, visually check the condition of the belt.
Recommendation. The crankshaft can be rotated with a 17 mm spanner for the bolt securing its pulley (see «Timing belt - replacement»).
The belt must be clean - free of dirt and oil on its surface. A belt with tears, cracks, delaminations, sheared or worn teeth, scuffs to the cord must be replaced (see «Timing belt - replacement»).
7. After inspection, install the cover and the parts removed from the car in place.
