Removing
Place the vehicle on a two-post lift, apply the parking brake and turn off the ignition.
Remove front wheel.
Raise the vehicle to a height convenient for work.

Loosen locknut 2, figure 8-1, wheel alignment adjustment (wrench 21, wrench 19).
Unscrew the nut 4 securing the ball joint pin of the outer tie rod end and press the pin out of the steering knuckle lever 5 (interchangeable head 16, knob, Tav. 476).
Unscrew and remove the outer tip 3 from the steering rod, noting the number of turns for further installation (wrench 19, wrench 13).
Installation
Check the condition of the boot and the hinge of the outer tie rod end and, if necessary, replace the end.
Screw the outer tie rod onto the tie rod to the number of turns noted during removal (wrench 19, wrench 13).
Install the ball joint pin of the outer tie rod end into the swing arm and secure with the fastening nut. Nut tightening torque 37 Nm (3.7 kgf·m) (interchangeable head 16, knob, torque wrench).
Tighten the wheel alignment locknut. Nut tightening torque 53 Nm (5.3 kgf·m) (wrench 13, wrench 19, wrench 21, interchangeable insert 21 type 58 21 40 21 f. "Stahlwille", torque wrench type 50 18 00 12 f. "Stahlwille").
Install the front wheel.
Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment.
