Note. When choosing spare parts, keep in mind that the shock absorbers installed on the Cross modification differ in size from those installed on the Universal.

Removing
Attention. Rear suspension shock absorbers should be replaced as a kit for both sides. Replacing the shock absorber on one side is not allowed.
Attention. To prevent damage to the rubber-metal hinges of the rear suspension arms, it is not allowed to hang the rear suspension arms with tightened joints by an amount exceeding the position of the arms with fully unloaded rear suspension springs.
Place the vehicle on a two-post lift, apply the parking brake and turn off the ignition.
For R90, 5-seats, move the rear wheel arch trim aside.
For cars R90, 7 seats - convert the rear row of seats to the position for carrying luggage and remove:
- rear side shelves of the luggage compartment;
- unscrew 6 screws and remove fasteners and brackets (rear arch frame);
- move aside the lining of the rear wheel arches.
For all vehicles
Remove the plugs 1, Figure 2-1, of the places where the shock absorbers are attached to the rear wheel arches.
Remove rear wheels.
Raise the vehicle, place a stand under the rear suspension arm and lower the vehicle until the spring begins to compress.

Lock the rod 2 and unscrew the nut 3 securing the shock absorber to the body (wrench 6, 16).
Remove the washer 4, the upper cushion 5 of the shock absorber joint and the bushing of the shock absorber joint.

Unscrew the bolt 3, Figure 2-2, fastening the shock absorber to the arm 1 of the rear suspension (interchangeable head 21, knob).
...and remove the shock absorber
Remove the lower shock absorber joint pad and washer from the shock absorber rod.
Remove the compression buffer assembly with the protective boot from the shock absorber rod.
Separate the compression buffer and protective boot.
Installation
Attention. Reuse of the shock absorber rod nut to the rear wheel arch is not allowed. The nut must be replaced.
Attention. Do not reuse the shock absorber-to-arm rear suspension bolt. The bolt must be replaced.
Install the washer, lower cushion and shock absorber pivot bushing onto the shock absorber rod.
Place the shock absorber in the rear wheel arch, connect the shock absorber to the rear suspension arm and tighten, without tightening, a new mounting bolt (interchangeable head 21, knob).
Insert the shock absorber rod into the wheel arch mounting hole, install the upper shock absorber hinge pad, washer on the rod and screw in a new fastening nut.
The moment of an inhaling of the top nut of fastening of the shock-absorber 14 Nm (1.4 kgf·m) (wrench 6, 16, interchangeable insert 16).
Install the plugs of the shock absorber attachment points to the rear wheel arches.
Repeat the removal and installation operations for the second shock absorber.
Install rear wheels.
For R90, 5-seats, reinstall the rear wheel arch trim.
For vehicles R90, 7-seats - install in place:
- facing of arches of back wheels;
- storage compartment;
- fastening details and armrest brackets;
- rear side armrests.
Attention. The final tightening of the bolts for fastening the shock absorbers to the rear suspension arms should be done with the car standing on wheels.
Finally tighten the bolts securing the shock absorbers to the rear suspension arms.
The moment of an inhaling of bolts of fastening of the shock-absorber to the lever of 105 Nm (10.5 kgf·m) (interchangeable head 21, torque wrench).
