The front passenger airbag differs from the driver's airbag in its shape and relatively large volume.
Disconnect the terminal "minus" from the battery.
Warnings!
- Attempting to remove the airbag module without disconnecting its power supply may cause the airbag to deploy unexpectedly.
- It is possible to proceed with subsequent operations to remove the airbag only after the activator capacitor is completely discharged. To do this, you must wait at least 15 minutes after turning off the power supply. Do not disassemble the airbag module.
- Do not drop the airbag module or allow water, grease or oil to come into contact with it.
- The airbag module must not be exposed to temperatures above 95°C.
Remove the dashboard along with the airbag attached to it. (see here).
Unscrew with a key "on 10" four nuts securing the cushion module to the panel.
Remove the wiring from the plastic holders on the panel.
And completely remove the front passenger airbag.
Note. some car owners remove the passenger airbag without removing the dashboard. To do this, the radio tape recorder is removed and through the resulting niche, four nuts securing the pillow are unscrewed by touch. Access is very difficult!
Installation of an airbag is made in an order, the return to removal.
Passenger airbag deactivation
During operation, it may be necessary to turn off the passenger airbag, and in some cases, for example, when installing a child seat on the front seat, this must be done!
Open the front passenger door and turn the switch on the side of the instrument panel to the "OFF" (turned off).
At the same time, the airbag deactivated indicator on the instrument cluster will be constantly lit.
