To check the pressure in the fuel rail, use a pressure gauge with a rubber hose that fits the diameter of the test fitting on the fuel rail.
1. Turn on the ignition and listen: within a few seconds you should hear the sound of the electric fuel pump. If it is not audible, check the electrical supply circuit of the electric fuel pump.
2. Check the pressure in the fuel supply system by connecting a pressure gauge to the fitting on the fuel rail in the engine compartment (see «Checking the fuel pressure in the engine power system»).
The following reasons for pressure drop are possible:
– The regulator of pressure of fuel is faulty. The regulator is located in the fuel pump module;
– the fuel filter is littered;
– the fuel pump is faulty.
You can find ways to troubleshoot these problems in Sec. «Engine» (see «Engine power system»).
