A general view of the gear selection mechanism is shown in fig. 6.6.
You will need: key «on 10», flat blade screwdriver.
1. Remove the gear selector from the gearbox (see «Disassembly of the gearbox and troubleshooting of its parts»).
2. Remove the lock washer of the guide shaft of the locking brackets.
3. Remove the steering axle.
4. Turn out a bolt of fastening of an axis of the lever of a choice of transfers (there is a spring washer under the head of the bolt).
5. Take out an axis of the lever.
6. Using a screwdriver, remove the coil spring.
7. Remove the plastic support washer from the spring.
8. Remove the block of levers...
9.... and a conical spring with support washers.
10. Remove the lock washer from the reverse fork shaft.
11. Remove the reverse gear fork from the gear selector housing.
12. Check up a condition of levers of a choice of transfers of forward and backing and blocking brackets. If these parts are worn, damaged, or deformed, replace them as an assembly.
13. Replace worn axles of levers.
14. Replace bent, broken or sagging springs.
15. Replace worn, damaged, or bent reverse fork.
16. Assemble the gear selection mechanism in the reverse order of disassembly, having previously lubricated all rubbing parts with gear oil. In this case, the conical spring with support washers is installed with the larger diameter side to the mechanism body.
17. In order to make it easier to get the mounting bolt into the threaded hole of the axle of the gear selector lever, a special slot for a screwdriver is made at the end of the axle.
