To perform the work you will need: a reliable stand for the car; snap ring remover; a set of tools for replacing the wheel bearing.
Warning! Press out the wheel bearing only if it is replaced, as it is likely to be destroyed during dismantling.
Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Loosen the front wheel hub nut (see «Front wheel drives - removal and installation»).
3. Remove the front wheel (see «Wheel replacement»).
4. Remove the brake disc (see «Front brake discs - replacement»).
5. Using the TORX T30 wrench, unscrew the three screws securing the brake shield and remove it.
6. Finally unscrew the hub nut.
7. Turn off the nuts and remove the bolts of the steering knuckle to the front suspension strut (see «Front suspension strut - removal and installation»).
8. Remove the ball joint pin from the steering knuckle (see «Front suspension arm - replacement») and remove the steering knuckle, removing from it the shank of the outer drive joint.
9. We fix the steering knuckle in a vice and press the hub out of the bearing.
Comment. If the inner ring of the bearing remains on the hub, we press it with a special two-jaw puller.
10. Remove the bearing circlip from the outside of the steering knuckle.
11. We press the bearing out of the steering knuckle with a cup puller.
12. We clean the seating surface of the bearing in the steering knuckle and apply grease to it to facilitate the pressing of the bearing.
13. Lubricate the outer ring of the new bearing.
14. We press a new bearing into the steering knuckle. The pressing force is applied only to the outer ring, otherwise the bearing will be damaged.
15. Install the bearing circlip.
Warning! When pressing the hub, the power bolt of the fixture must rest only on the inner ring of the bearing, otherwise the bearing will be damaged.
16. To facilitate pressing, lubricate the hub and press it into the bearing.
17. Next, install the parts in reverse order.
