Difficult or impossible to shift gears on a car with a manual transmission
1. Malfunction of the gear shift actuator (see «Manual transmission - checking the technical condition»). Replace defective parts.
2. Breakage or wear of clutch parts. Check clutch (see «Clutch - condition check»), replace defective parts.
On a car with an automated transmission, gears stopped changing
1. Faulty gearshift drive or gearbox control unit (see «Automated transmission»). To determine the fault codes of the robotic transmission, diagnose the control system using special diagnostic equipment. Eliminate the identified problem.
2. Faulty clutch release actuator (see «Clutch»). To determine the fault codes of the robotic transmission, diagnose the control system using special diagnostic equipment. Eliminate the identified problem.
Reduced braking performance
1. Lubrication of brake discs and brake pads. Check the technical condition of the brake system (see «Brake system - check of technical condition»). Treat discs with brake cleaner. Replace brake pads (see «Front / Rear brake pads - replacement»).
2. Faulty vacuum brake booster. Check the technical condition of the brake system (see «Brake system - check of technical condition»). Replace defective part.
3. Faulty anti-lock braking system ABS (the malfunction occurs when braking on a slippery surface or during emergency braking). The ABS malfunction indicator lamp on the instrument panel may come on. Using special diagnostic equipment by connecting it to the diagnostic connector (see «Engine management system»), identify ABS fault codes. Eliminate the identified problem.
