Automated gearbox selector: 1 - selector lining with mode designations; 2 - selector lever; 3 - sector for switching the main modes of the AMCP; 4 —sector for shifting gears in manual mode
The engine can only be started if the selector is in position N and the brake pedal is depressed.
To enable the desired mode, you must move the selector lever to the appropriate position. In this case, the corresponding symbol will be displayed on the information display (M - for manual mode and A - for automatic mode) and number of the engaged gear or R for reverse gear.
N - neutral gear. It is used at a stop and long parking of the car. In this mode, all controls are turned off, the engine and chassis are disconnected, the car can move freely. Use the service brake or parking brake to hold the vehicle in place.
Warning! Apply the parking brake while the vehicle is parked.
R - reverse. Used to drive the car in reverse. Switching to this mode is possible only after a complete stop of the car.
A - forward movement with automatic gear shifting. This mode provides automatic forward gear shifting. Gears are selected (depending on vehicle speed and engine speed) and switch automatically. The mode is used when the vehicle is moving under normal road conditions. If the selector lever is moved to the left in this mode, the transmission will switch to manual shift control mode (mode M).
M - forward movement with manual gear shifting. Used to shift gears manually. The mode can be activated when the selector lever is in position A. To control gear shifting in manual mode, briefly move the lever forward or backward. When moving the lever forward (the direction on the selector is indicated by the symbol «+»), it will shift to a higher gear, back - a lower gear will be engaged (designation on the selector respectively «—»). Gears are switched only sequentially. Therefore, if you need to immediately go down two steps, you need to pull the lever back twice. To disable manual mode, the selector lever must be returned to position A.
Warning! If the selector is moved to position R, A or M, the brake pedal must be held down until the start of movement. In order to avoid damage to the gearbox, the AMCP control system will not allow you to engage a gear that does not correspond to the speed of the vehicle.
