After trips along city streets, sprinkled with reagents, chemical contamination remains on the glass. As a result, an iridescent film and a white coating form on the glass surface, the glass becomes less transparent. Therefore, it is important to wash off dirt from the glass surface in a timely and high-quality manner.
To clean the glass in the warm season, you can use water with car shampoo, but it is better to use special summer windshield washer fluids. They are made on a water basis with the addition of special active substances, so their cleaning ability, especially in relation to organic contaminants, is much higher than that of plain water.
Warning! In freezing temperatures, use only a special winter windshield washer fluid. Freezing of the liquid can lead to rupture of the reservoir, pump housing and system failure.
Alcohol-based low-freezing liquids are intended for use in winter. This allows them to be used depending on the concentration of alcohol in water in the temperature range from 0°to -50°C.
Warning! It is strictly forbidden to pour antifreeze into the tank! It will damage the car's paintwork. It is forbidden to use compositions that freeze at low temperatures and detergent solutions that are not intended for use in cars as windshield washer fluids! They can also damage the paintwork, windscreen washer pump and wiper mechanism.
A low-temperature windshield washer fluid, in addition to temperature and washing properties, must have a number of characteristics (color, smell, texture), aimed at improving its properties. When choosing, be guided by the following requirements:
Windshield washer fluid should be safe for health - it is best to use fluids based on ethanol or, in extreme cases, isopropyl alcohol, which has a stronger alcohol smell. Liquids containing methanol are prohibited for sale, as it is very toxic and hazardous to health. If methanol vapor enters the passenger compartment, severe poisoning of the driver and passengers is possible.
Windshield washer fluid should have a pleasant, mild fragrance (or not smell at all). As a rule, flavoring manufacturers try to drown out the pungent smell of isopropyl alcohol.
The windshield washer fluid should evaporate completely and not leave smudges, iridescent films and deposits on the glass surface that impair visibility - it is best to use a blue-colored fluid, as this is the most transparent and closest color to the glass, and thin films of other colors are visible on it and distort traffic conditions.
Windshield washer fluid should not damage enamel and paintwork and should not destroy plastic and rubber parts of the car.
