Execution sequence
1. Warm up the engine to operating temperature (before turning on the electric fan).
2. After the electric fan, having completed the duty cycle, stops, turn off the engine.
3. We wait 15 minutes for the oil to drain into the oil pan.
4. Check the engine oil level according to the pointer (see «Engine oil level - check»).
5. Fill engine oil to the maximum level (the corresponding mark on the level indicator is indicated by an arrow, see Fig. «Engine oil and oil filter - change»).
6. Recording the amount of fuel poured into the tank and regularly monitoring the oil level, we operate the car until the car has traveled 2,000 km or until the oil level drops to the minimum allowable value.
Comment. If before the next oil change, its level in the engine has not dropped to a minimum, then the consumption is normal.
7. After stopping the engine, warmed up to operating temperature (see above), we wait 15 minutes.
Comment. To perform the following operation, it is necessary to add oil from a measuring container in order to know exactly the amount of oil filled.
8. Add oil to the engine to the maximum allowable level. The amount of oil filled will correspond to the oil consumption.
9. Calculate the allowable oil consumption using the formula:
A ⩽ Bx0.3%, where
A - allowable oil consumption, l;
B - the amount of fuel consumed, l.
10. Compare the obtained values.
Comment. If the oil consumption exceeds 0.3% of the amount of fuel used, then the engine is most likely worn out and needs to be repaired.
